This is an update on the situation with our papers. We’re experimenting with ON THE STREETS, a sharp, punchy paper on two sides of a sheet of A4, produced for distribution on selected estates in the area we cover. This has an even more direct style than the Heckler, tapping into the prevailing sense of alienation from the political parties and national and local government. Essentially it’s a call for people to start taking action for themselves in their neighbourhoods. The print run is 1500 and we’re aiming to cover three estates with this and see what reaction we get. Hopefully, if we can get the papers back from the printer in time, we’ll be starting this coming Saturday.

We are going to produce a Heckler paper for this spring/summer but…we need some idea of what the heck is going to happen with Brexit! Once we have an idea of what Brexit will look like and how it will impact the communities in the area we cover, we can get on with writing and producing it. As matters are coming to a head and leaving with no deal at 11pm on Friday 12th April looks increasingly likely, we should be in a position to seriously get underway with the paper by the middle of the month. Ideally distribution of the next Heckler paper will seamlessly follow on from that of ON THE STREETS.

We also have a paper out for our sister project, Alternative Estuary. This paper is more generic with a focus on promoting positive alternatives and building a new world in the crumbling shell of the one we currently have to endure. As Alternative Estuary is more generic, distribution will be ongoing through the spring and summer. This paper will be getting handed out at a number of vegan fairs and community events that we’ll be attending in the coming months.

Hopefully, that’s explained where we are with our papers. What we’re trying to do is produce a range of papers targeted at a range of audiences and see what reaction we get. Basically, we don’t want to get stuck in a rut! Needless to say, any help with distribution or offers of money to pay for printing will be more than welcome…
